Welcome to Compassion Camp! This blog is especially made for adults so that all may explore the theme of compassion. As we look around the world, what becomes clearer each day is our deep need for compassion - now more than ever. Each session has a central scripture passage about the theme. The goal of Compassion Camp is to cultivate compassion for each other, ourselves and the world by coming to see how Jesus was compassionate. As adults, growing our compassion is a faith experience as situations are encountered in one's daily life. Situations that bring struggle from situations of loss and illness create the opportunity to realize one's own vulnerability. This vulnerability can transform us more deeply in the the heart of Jesus and offer our compassion to others. It is our hope that these resources will enable you to think more deeply about your own growth in compassion. The preparation for Sunday scripture individual and/or Zoom group will be a little different for the summer  The group would like to still continue meeting, but Marge and Debbie are going to take a break from curating the support materials.  We will continue to provide a link to the readings, and also a link to the St. Louis University Liturgy website which provides a lot of background information on the Sunday readings.  If in the course of our other work we come across a video that works for the readings we will put it up as well, but our discussion will primarily be a breaking open of the Word for the weekend. Oriented Toward God Human beings are "hard-wired" for God in that there is in us a deep hunger for the "more," the "ultimate,"  the "other." This week the Gospel is one in which Jesus challenges his disciples to commit fully to God in order that they might have life.  At face-value Jesus' words can be disturbing for today's followers.  Join us as we take a deeper dive into the fuller meaning of Jesus' teaching. Welcome! This Sunday we return to "ordinary" time in the Church.   The Sundays and weeks of Ordinary Time take us through the life of Christ. This is the time of conversion. This is living the life of Christ.   Ordinary Time is a time for growth and maturation, a time in which the mystery of Christ is called to penetrate ever more deeply into history until all things are finally caught up in Christ. Welcome! This Sunday we celebrate Corpus Christi. This feast gives the church the opportunity to see the Eucharist through the eyes of Resurrection and to deepen our appreciation and understanding of Eucharist as the "source and summit" of our Catholic faith.
